Responsibilities

Purpose of Role

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Vice President of Sales & Marketing to lead the strategic and operational direction of our sales and marketing functions within our fast-growing fintech sector. This is a pivotal executive role, responsible for driving revenue growth, shaping go-to-market strategy, and building sustainable client and partner relationships, while positioning the business as a market leader in digital protection solutions. The VP of Sales & Marketing will also lead our Customer Success tea as a core strategic function focused on driving long-term customer loyalty, retention, and revenue growth.

The successful candidate will combine deep commercial acumen with strong leadership and a proven ability to deliver growth.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define, lead, and implement a comprehensive sales and marketing strategy aligned to the company’s overall vision and objectives.
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership to sales, marketing, and business development functions, ensuring seamless integration and alignment.
  • Act as a key member of the senior leadership team, contributing to the company’s long-term strategy, growth, and profitability.
  • Drive change and innovation across sales and marketing operations to secure competitive advantage in a rapidly evolving fintech and protection market.

Sales Management

  • Set and own sales targets, objectives, and revenue goals for the organisation, ensuring achievement of KPIs and business growth targets.
  • Build, lead, and motivate high-performing sales teams, fostering a culture of accountability and results.
  • Develop and manage the sales pipeline, ensuring robust prospecting, conversion, and retention strategies.
  • Build and manage strategic partnerships with distributors, intermediaries, and affinity partners.
  • Oversee pricing strategies, sales forecasts, and performance reporting.

Marketing Leadership

  • Oversee the planning, development, and execution of marketing campaigns across digital and traditional channels, ensuring they are grounded in customer and market insight.
  • Utilise data-driven marketing and digital techniques to grow brand presence, generate qualified leads, and drive client engagement.
  • Work closely with product, technology, and customer service teams to ensure sales and marketing align with product development and client experience.

Market Insight & Analysis

  • Conduct and interpret market research, competitor analysis, and performance data to refine strategies and identify new opportunities.
  • Track and analyse sales and marketing performance metrics, presenting reports and insights to senior leadership and the board.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, customer behaviours, and regulatory changes, and adapt strategy accordingly.

Customer Success & Partner Engagement

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with key clients, distribution partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor customer health metrics and proactively address risks and ensure customers derive measurable value from the investments.
  • Ensure a client-centric approach to sales and marketing, enhancing customer satisfaction, retention, and lifetime value whilst championing the voice of the customer.
  • Represent the organisation externally at industry events, conferences, and with the media where appropriate.

People Leadership & Governance

  • Lead, coach, and develop directors, managers, and senior individual contributors within the sales and marketing functions.
  • Oversee recruitment, performance management, appraisals, and reward processes.
  • Allocate resources effectively across teams and projects, ensuring alignment with corporate priorities.
  • Champion the organisation’s vision, mission, and values, ensuring they are embedded across all sales and marketing activities.

Qualifications

Experience & Skills Required

  • Extensive senior leadership experience in sales and marketing, preferably within life insurance, protection, fintech, or financial services.
  • Proven record of achieving and exceeding sales and revenue growth targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver strategic go-to-market plans that combine digital and traditional distribution.
  • Strong understanding of UK life insurance/protection markets, regulatory frameworks, and distribution models.
  • Skilled in data-driven decision making, financial planning, and performance analysis.
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with experience developing senior teams.
  • Ability to balance strategic vision with operational execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
  • Professional qualifications in marketing or financial services (e.g., CIM, CII) advantageous.
