This is an office-based position.

Responsibilities

Supports financial reporting by preparing basic balance sheets, income statements, and closing reports under GAAP or IFRS guidelines. Records financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Assists in reconciling financial accounts such as bank statements and credit cards. Contributes to budgeting and forecasting by compiling financial data. Ensures compliance with accounting policies and assists with audit documentation preparation.

  • Financial Transactions & Record-Keeping: Assist with daily accounting activities such as processing customer invoices, monitoring receivables/payables, and posting journal entries under supervision. Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data entry.
  • Financial Reporting & Compliance: Support the preparation of basic financial reports and schedules.
    Assist in gathering data for audits and ensure compliance with standard accounting procedures.
  • Internal Controls & Risk Management: Follow established internal controls and procedures to maintain data integrity. Alert supervisors to potential discrepancies or issues.
  • Systems & Process Improvement: Use accounting systems to enter and retrieve data. Learn and apply standard procedures; suggest minor improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Skill Development: Receive training and guidance from more experienced staff. Demonstrate a learning mindset and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Business Partnering & Decision Support: Provide routine financial data to other departments as requested. Observe and begin to understand how financial data supports decision-making.

Qualifications

  • General Ledger Management – Basic knowledge of journal entries, account reconciliations, and adjustments; ability to work under close supervision.
  • Financial Reporting – Familiarity with financial statement components and the month-end closing process
  • Internal Controls – Basic understanding of internal control concepts and their role in financial data accuracy.
  • Regulatory Compliance – Basic knowledge of GAAP or IFRS; ability to apply standard rules under guidance.
  • Accounting Software Proficiency – Familiarity with basic accounting functions in ERP or accounting systems.
  • Process Improvement – Ability to identify opportunities to improve tasks and provide feedback on process inefficiencies.
  • Tax Compliance Support – Ability to assist in gathering data for tax filings and audit support.
  • Accounting Review – Receptive to receiving feedback on own work and ability to apply suggestions to improve accuracy.
  • Previous experience with Salesforce CRM or Sage Intacct accounting software is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and generate accurate reports.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills.
